History | Born in captivity, the small Houndour had a slow start at life. Smaller than average, her father worried illness may have gripped he pup, but as days passed she grew to fit the natural size expected of her species. The Houndour bonded swift and strongly with her Mightyena father, but her mother was but a stranger to the child. The Houndoom stayed distant, cold eyes clouded over more often than not, and pushing away her only daughter any time she tried to be close. There was a fight on the day she finally received a name, the Houndour pup hearing harsh voices. "She needs a name, Akita." "Then call the damn thing Gossamer, Dhesil, just stay out of my fucking face." "Gossamer?" "Yes, so that she may be cursed to be as easily ripped apart by this damn world as you and I once were." Her words did not have meaning to the Houndour then deemed Gossamer, but less than a fortnight later, her mother committed suicide, leaving the Houndour alone in the world with her father. When only several weeks old, Goss was taught to obey humans and adore her human master, being handled by the older man more and more frequently as she grew into her paws and learned to run. Goss' father was a very important Pokemon, she learned early on, and was too small to go with him everywhere, so she spent most of her childhood playing by herself in the home made nursery at her master's ranch. A rumbustious kid, she got into trouble more often than not, and her tomboy colours showed early in her personality. Soon as the Houndour was old enough, her father took her outside for the first time, showing her the boundaries of their territory and the ranch they were born in. The Mightyena was the top dog around those parts, all of the gentle and peace loving Pokemon of the Ranch showing him great respect. It was through their respect for the older canine that Gossamer learned her father's name; Dhesil. It felt strong against her tongue, fitting in her mind. He told her one day, when she was old enough, she too would continue their line of guard dog and she would be the one everyone came to. Awed by the thought, the naive Houndour asked dozens of questions, unsure that she would ever be good enough to fill her father's pawsteps. But her insecurities were easily forgotten, as she was introduced to the one Dhesil focused on most with protecting; an older Grafarig named Sombre, and the pride and joy of her human master. Having never really been able to make normal friends, despite the decade plus age gap Gossamer and Sombre bonded quickly, the young canine coming to adore his generous and caring spirit. Spending so much time with her father, Goss got to watch and ever participate in Sombre's daily routine of speaking to and learning from the elder Pokemon of their ranch. Years passed in this way, and the Houndour grew into a rash but strong Houndoom, coming to evolve through the training her father never failed to give her. Entering her twenties, the young adult's lifelong routine never changed as she still spent her time both guarding Sombre and staying by her father's side, learning wisdom of different kinds from both males. But life never fails, and it was quite apparent when her father began his steep physical decline. Dhesil appeared to fall ill seemingly out of no where, and it was only after a short few weeks of illness that he passed away in his old age. Sombre and Gossamer were devastated, having both been raised almost solely by the proud Mightyena. As Sombre grew solem, Goss closed herself off. While she carried on her father's work without fail, the Houndoom no longer acted as friendly on a personal level, most noticeably with Sombre. Keeping her thoughts more and more to herself, Gossamer lived a lonely life from that time on, even as she spent her daily life with the then evolved Elfile, her mental state became bitter and more chaotic as she went through the grieving cycle. As time slowly passed, Goss spent lonely, sleepless nights prowling the far reaches of their twenty acre land. Looking over the fence, it was in a fit of irrational anger than she leaped the fence and dashed into the surrounding forests. Finding many wild Pokemon out, she mindlessly ripped a Noctowl out of the air, slamming the defenseless bird to the ground. As her breakdown grew more and more violent, tears fell from her eyes as she ripped apart the bird and immediately consumed half of its body and most of its right wing, snapping bones effortlessly and swallowing the meat and bones whole in themselves. But as she stepped back to look at the corpse, her body suddenly came aglow, and the Houndoom evolved an unheard of second time into the Pokemon of legends-- Houndusk. Horrified by her actions and ashamed of how she had lost control, the joy of evolving was not yet to come. That night, years later after the event, Gossamer finally learned to grieve for her father's passing and say good bye. As she returned back to the ranch that night, the canine made resolve to never lose sight of herself and her emotions again, become disciplined in every way possible. And in the years that followed, as she entered her thirties, she did just that. Growing into an almost different Pokemon, her old spark returned and she was visibly happier after finally releasing her father's spirit from her heart and mind. But life once again forced itself upon her, in the form of horrific illness this time, as the Epidemic swept across Johto and found its way mercilessly to their home. As undead attacked without warning one day, Gossamer was unable to do anything but help Sombre flee, the Elifile her top priority. Much as she would not want to admit it, he was her only real friend as well as the one she spent her whole life learning to protect and save. So even as the pair lived out in the wilderness swarming with infection and danger around very tree, she never failed to protect Sombre, even at the cost of harming herself. |
Appearance | Gossamer holds a completely average appearance, no odd colourations or otherwise, but holds a tall, strong build. Muscles ripple beneath her thin pelt and dangerous claws leave groves in the dirt as she walks. An adamant scowl is almost always apparent upon her lips, a harsh coldness to her fiery coloured eyes. |
Personality | Pros: Honest, physically strong Cons: Snarky, harsh, stereotypically sexist, emotionally closed off, guilted, lonely, rash, bitter Neutral: Loves children -Despite all of the crap she gives Sombre, she cares for him still as a dear friend and is scared of losing him. -Loathes Solas with a passion and has come close to ripping the tail off once just to shut him up -Curses a lot -Can not stand those of her own gender that are weak or girly and she will openly insult them viciously -She still misses her father bitterly and grieves for him -Due to Sombre's nativity, she never lets him out of her sight. When around new Pokemon, she will stand in front of him and not let him near them until she has decided them safe enough. Literally the opposite of his open friendliness, she is suspicious and will let it be known she does not trust anyone. |

History | Sombre was born into the sheltered life even as a young calf. The baby Girafarig's father, a grand Espeon, was the pride and joy of their trainer. A rugged man, he was, a proud breeder and owner of the large exspance of land Sombre would grow up on. The home was large and luxurious for the child, never cold or uncomfortable with so many beds to lay upon. His mother was the primary one to raise him, Sombre's father not the type to care and raise a child, not like there was any love between the two Psychic types. They were forced to breed by their trainer just to have a child with unique moves. Sombre learned very early on to not bother his father under any circumstances... it always ended in a swift beating for the sensitive child. Growing into teenagehood, Sombre began to show his true colours. A natural adoration for nature and passion for pacifism, the Girafarig spent as much time as he possibly could outside. The master owned a large expanse of land on which many species of rare Pokemon made a living, all of which were part of his ever growing collection. Sombre was only under one rule when leaving the home, and that was to have an escort. Said escort was none other than a large, strong Mightyena by the name of Dhesil. The dog had been a lifetime resident of the ranch and took his job very serious. Sombre was allowed to go wherever he pleased within reason as long as the guard dog was there. Always one for new experiences and faces, Sombre met all of the Pokemon living on the land, befriending and learning from all of them. A naturally gentle, caring soul, it only deepened with all he learned from his elders. It was around this time that Dhesil took on an apprentice, his daughter and a Houndour named Gossamer. The pair of youths bonded fast and strong, the Girafarig pending as much time with Goassamer as he had Dhesil while the Mightyena taught her the ways of their trade. Life was simple and calm for him, Sombre watching her reach adolescence while he hit adulthood. However as years passed, Sombre's mother fell ill, passing away unexpectedly when he was still in his twenties. grief stricken, he spent lonely days not leaving his human's house. Having no energy for exploration or learning, the human comforted him in different ways. One day while massaging the Girafarig with rare sweet incense, the unthinkable happened. Coming into a rapid glow, the Girafarig found himself much larger and met with the dumb struck stare of his human. He had evolved into an Elifile, his father taught him in the time afterwards. Sombre took the evolution as a blessing, grateful for the small amount of interest his father showed in him for the first time in years. In the time that followed, Sombre learned more about his new form mostly through curious experiments, including tapping into the strangely foreign and independent mind of his new tail, the voice calling itself Solas. However as Sombre grew into late adult hood, both his father and Gossamer's father, Dhesil, passed away within the same years. The pair took the loss of the Mightyena much harsher, the old dog being the only father figure the equine knew. By then Goss was more than certified to be his full guard, her having long since graduated, in a way, from her father's training. But the bond between the two crumpled away into a purely professional relationship, much to Sombre's sorrow. The female retreated within herself, no longer smiling and no longer talking to him without care each day. Sombre did not let this discourage him, though, as he still talked to her as if nothing had changed. He still holds onto the belief that if he never holds secrets, someday she will reopen up, too. When the Epiemic hit, years later, Sombre was well into his late adulthood and Gossamer had evolved a remarkable second time, into a powerful Houndusk. Going about his daily routine with his trusted Houndusk with him, the Elifile was ill prepared for the attack coming from nearby wild Pokemon. Climbing over the fence and screeching for blood, the red eyed Pokemon would have torn Sombre to shreds had Gossamer not been there. The Houndoom evolution managed to get him out of the growing horde, but then tried to convince him to flee their life long home. Stricken and unsure, there was no time to think of another way as Gossamer led him out the broken gates and into the forest. As the sky darkened, the smoke of their home being lit ablaze swallowed the sky. As time passed after the event, Sombre learned more about the world than he had before on his own, but with danger around every corner, it was less than an ideal situation. But with his trusted guardian leading the way, the dual type holds hope that they will end up fine. |
Appearance | Sombre is the pinnacle of the bell curve for his species, nothing exaggerated or abnormal in any way for him. Despite this, he still holds much attention when reaching new places due to the rarity of his species. Despite used to having many eyes on him, Sombre has a naturally shy attitude and it shows in the low way he holds his ears back, head down low to the ground in a submissive show. His eyes always have a gentle tone to them, a great depth that one can drown in. |
Personality | Pros: Grateful, humble, pacifistic, caring Cons: Sensitive, physically weak, awkward, skiddish, emotional Neutral: Soft spoken, loves nature -A lover of knowledge and learning new information, he tends to ask many questions and more often than not during the inappropriate time. Interested in any and every subject foreign to him, Sombre can accidentally make himself a nuisance asking personal questions. -Not a fighter in the least, Sombre's only way of really dealing with threats is his agility and baton pass techniques, jumping out of harms way to let Gossamer neutralize the threats. -Raised in the way he was, Sombre has a humble, modest personality, thankful for anything fortunate to go his way. Always one to thank fate for help, he is not a religious Pokemon, but still believes in an unknown higher power. -Overly friendly, Sombre tends to be too open and trustful of new strangers. Since it is not in his personality to judge, he will treat everyone with the same gentle care unless they show malice in return to his kindness. |
User Notes | -Solas is the name that the second brain in his tail has taken. He rarely speaks, but tends to be cruel and harsh to Sombre if he does. Will tend to speak telepathically with Gossamer more than with Sombre himself. -Espeon father |
